Good morning Carry the Light Children’s Home!
Oh, how you are enjoying the arrival of Babu (Greg), Mama Donna, even Mama Vickie and Grammy Rachel. I was here 20 days already before they came and I’ll be gone after Thursday. You know, I only have 31 days to stay, but June is coming and that is a very good month.
As you can see, Babu is working hard every day building your new school. You can see him going back and forth to the new school site then back here attending to the needs of the Home. I even heard him training his crew , praying over them and the land for God’s blessings. Daily he is challenging them to work steady for there is much to be done in 20 days. He always insists Sunday is for rest unless the cow gets into the ditch. Oh yes, your cow, Mrembo (meaning “Beautiful girl”), is doing so well. She is healthy and happy to be here at the home with so many boys and girls to look after her. After her little calf is born in July, you will soon have plenty of milk each day. It is good you are learning to care for the cow for Babu says we can buy another one if we show we take good care of Mrembo. I know we lost the two little Jack Terriers, Adongo and Apiyo, but that was not your fault. But we now have six new puppies to care for and play with. I was proud of you, children, the way you prayed over your little dogs. It’s hard to lose something you love, but joy comes after the tears. You have learned, children, that it’s all right to cry over your little pets. How happy you are now to have new puppies to run and play with. The laughter and happy smiles these puppies give you is a joy to behold.
There are whispers and looks of secrets between Mama Vickie and Mama Donna now. Surely it must be time for the birthday party! I will already be gone, but June will be here to share in your excitement. Special birthday bags are being prepared, chocolate cookies made by Mama Vickie, sweet drinks, birthday hats, and many surprises. I even suspect Babu brought chocolate for you. He knows how much you like chocolate. Oh, what fun! Carry the Light Children’s Home, you are surely being blessed! Mama Donna is making sure the kitchen has new things that are needed to prepare your meals. Yes, there are so many needs to take care of when Babu comes. Oh, there he goes again setting his crew to the task for the day. He is working hard to prepare the building and Mama Donna has been checking up on the teachers and the school records to make sure everything is in order.
Thank you, Lord, for giving Babu Greg and Mama Donna the call to come to Kenya to build and establish Carry the Light Children’s Home. I’ll be back next year to see how you are! Until then…

P.S. I almost forgot to tell you about our water tower that Babu built last time so now you can have water even when the power goes out. Thank you, Babu and Sponsors, for our home, our clothes, school books, bags, and our comfortable bed and blankets you have supplied. We thank God for you, that you would care for us so far away.
