36 new orphans arrive at CTL Childrens Home in Usigu, Kenya! OUR HOME IS NOW FULL!!! CLICK HERE TO WATCH THEIR RESCUE VIDEOS In just over a year, we have now filled our Home with giggles, laughter, and bright smiling faces from our family of 97 children and 20+ staff members. WE ARE NOW FULL! We have witnessed these children coming out of their protective shells - learning how to give and receive affection - and transforming into happy and secure children who finally have a sense of belonging. Recently, one of our children's uncles visited them in our Home. The child told the uncle, "I've had my breakfast, and taken my tea. You can come and visit me, but don't take me back to that place!" Our children have made that adjustment from the "orphans mentality" of not belonging, to being part of a big family! WE HAVE OUR OWN CHICKEN FARM! Every 2 weeks, we bring in 200 new 1 day old chicks which take 6 weeks to raise to adulthood. Then, we "eat all we can, and sell the rest!" This allows this project to be self sustaining. Currently, we have approximately 800 chickens on our farm. In about 2 more months, the layers will begin to lay which will also produce an estimated 200 eggs per day. Our children now have the needed protein in their diets.
Our children enjoy their first chicken dinner from home grown chickens.
